If you happen to be interested in purchasing such a device, hold onto your cash and read this article first. Below, we have DynaTrap reviews for you so you would know whether or not the product is worth it. Read on!

Part 1: What is DynaTrap

DynaTrap is considered as the leading insect trap in North America. It was introduced by Juan Rocha in 2006. Since then, the brand has introduced many different models of the popular insect trap, which are sold in many different hardware and home equipment stores. These include Amazon, Home Depot, Sam’s, Ace Hardware, and many more.

Many people have been using DynaTrap devices as they’ve been said to be effective in getting rid of mosquitoes, bugs, and other insects without the use of harmful chemicals. And since DynaTrap doesn’t use any harmful chemicals, you can use it both indoors and outdoors.

DynaTrap DT1000

For this Dynatrap review, we have two available models: DynaTrap DT1000 and DynaTrap DT2000XL. Both are designed as traps for flying insects. They use carbon dioxide and warmth in luring them into the trap and preventing them from getting out. And there’s no use of propane to make CO2.

DynaTrap DT1000

  • Price: 150 USD
  • Coverage: 1/2 acre
  • Target: Mosquitoes and other bugs/insects
  • Number of Bulbs: 1
  • Color: Black
  • Dimensions: 9.8′ Diameter x 13′ Height
  • Weight: 4 lbs

DynaTrap DT2000XL

  • Price: 190 USD
  • Coverage: 1 acre
  • Target: Mosquitoes and other bugs/insects
  • Number of Bulbs: 2
  • Color: Black
  • Dimensions: 17 x 13.5 x 13.3 inches
  • Weight: 9.2 lbs

Overall, these two DynaTrap models work the same way. However, the more expensive model is twice as powerful as it can cover an acre of land area. The less expensive one can only go as far as half an acre. This is because DT2000XL has two bulbs, which emit stronger light.  It also has a bigger body that can help trap insects of various sizes.

Part 2: How Does Dynatrap Work

In case you’ve finally decided to purchase one, you may need to know how it works. Dynatrap works by emitting lights that possess attractive warmth with ultraviolet rays. This has been proven effective in capturing flying insects like moths. However, it can also be used against mosquitoes and other harmful bugs at home.

DynaTrap DT2000XL

Another component that helps in attracting mosquitoes and bugs is carbon dioxide. We humans emit it, and what this device does is concentrate the CO2 and lure the pests in, especially mosquitoes.  They’d think they’re following a human’s carbon dioxide.

After being attracted by the lights and CO2, the openings will suck in the mosquitoes and bugs, thanks to the fans’ powerful air currents. Then, all of the insects will be trapped in the cage and may die after a day or two.

So, there are 3 powerful features that work together in order to trap insects: UV light, carbon dioxide, and the fan. That’s how simple the device works, No need for dangerous chemicals.

Part 3: What are the Pros and Cons of Dynatrap

Before you buy this trap device, it’s important that you know the advantages and disadvantages that come with it. That way, you’ll be able to weigh them and see if it’s worth buying

Pros of DynaTrap

  • There’s no need to change cylinders and use propane. So, it’s cheaper for long-term use, and you won’t experience an unpleasant/strong smell coming from the device.
  • It can trap other kinds of bugs and insects such as mosquitoes, moths, flies, wasps, beetles, gnats, etc.
  • The device can be used in and outside the house. All you need to do is set up a dedicated electrical outlet wherever you want to put it. You also don’t need to worry about the rain as the device is waterproof.
  • It works quietly. The sound it makes is just like a computer fan.
  • It’s proven safe for humans and pets at home because it doesn’t use insecticides and other harmful chemicals.

Cons of DynaTrap

  • You may need to install the trap 6 feet from the ground, which can be a hassle if you don’t have anything to hang it on. You may also need to consider its weight when establishing a firm structure or post for it.
  • It also needs an electrical outlet that’s at least 7 feet away. Yes, it’s not wireless. So, if you ever need to set up an outlet outside the house, you may need to get a roof for it to avoid damage.
  • Starters may find the cylinder difficult to empty as some bugs are still alive and may escape. Since the device doesn’t use chemicals, stronger insects have a good chance of survival

Now that you know all the pros and cons of DynaTrap, you may now weigh your options. Examine them closely and see if you can consider buying one.

Part 4: Is DynaTrap Legit or Just A Trick

DynaTrap is Legit. It may have features that are good to be true, but according to studies conducted by experts, it’s really effective against mosquitoes and other bugs. Yes! In the Journal of the Florida Mosquito Control Association, they found that the combination of carbon dioxide and UV light has made the device work more than expected.

DynaTrap Outdoor

And as per our tests, we’ve found that all the parts and features of DynaTrap, whichever model you use, work fine. They have significantly helped reduce the mosquitoes in the house, but especially outside. The range is just wide enough to cover all the areas in and outside the house.

However, if you are planning to use DynaTrap outside your house, it would be wise to use the DT2000XL. It’s bigger than the other one and can cover a lot more area. You can really make sure that your family is safe from any harmful bugs.

Note:

Still, you shouldn’t let your guard down. Some insects and bugs may be able to resist the attractive forces from the device.

If your place is prone bugs, we advise you to wear extra protection like long sleeves, pants, socks, gloves, etc. You may also use anti insect sprays around the house or apply insect repellant lotions like OFF!®.

Bonus: Taking Care of DynaTrap

To ensure that your DynaTrap will last longer, you need to know a bit more about cleaning it and replacing its light bulb. So, here’s how we did them.

How to Clean the DynaTrap

  1. Power off the device and unplug it.
  2. Then, twist the cage at the bottom until it disconnects from the body of the device.
Dynatrap Bottom
  1. If your model has screws on the cage, unscrew them.
  2. Transfer the dead insects in a trash bag. You may use the provided brush to remove residues and debris. Just do it gently to prevent physical damage.
  3. Lastly, you may remove dust from the fan if there is any.

How to Replace the DynaTrap’s Light Bulb

The UV light bulbs used in traps like DynaTraps only have a lifespan of 3000 hours (total usage). So, the lights may work for up to 4 months with continued use. However, if you only use it when there is a prevalence of mosquitoes or bugs, the bulb may last for a year.

When the bulb doesn’t work anymore, all you need to do is purchase a new one and replace the old bulb. You can do this by unscrewing the plastic that protects the bulb, and you just basically replace it. Then, put back the protector and your DynaTrap is good to go!

Should You Buy DynaTrap

Yes! DynaTrap is definitely a must-buy if you are looking for an easy-to-use trap for mosquitoes and other small bugs. It’s been tested many times by experts and it works as intended. It can help you get rid of flying insects outside your house like on the balcony or whatnot. However, DynaTrap can be a bit more expensive than other mosquito zappers, but if you really want to be certain that the product you’re buying is legit, this is it.
